Inside every fantasy, there has to be a certain component of magic, terror and witchery that allows us to imagine that anything can happen, but also a certain element of apparent truth and reality.
The race of vampires is full of mysterious beings whose origins and final destinies we almost never know. These inexplicable but unavoidable characters call forth feelings both of desire and of repulsion, as though we fear both their appearance and their absence. We sometimes feel the same way about blood, which is unavoidably a part of us.
The erotic element is very profound: possession, absolute domination, penetration beyond the mere limits of the body until it absorbs the last nooks and fluids of our being, until it drinks the soul itself and then conquers death. Think carefully: Do you know a vampire male or female, one who isn't quite like Dracula? Can you remember someone who made you feel attraction and repulsion at the same time?
And don't be afraid if one day when you look in the mirror you don't recognize yourself. Mirrors always lie. Just like they lied to Alice, to drag her into Wonderland.
